Welcome!

I understand that this journey can be overwhelming, filled with uncertainty and countless questions. That's why I'm here to guide you every step of the way, ensuring that your teen's path to higher education is paved with the right choices and opportunities for success.

These are just a few of the topics I frequently address

What courses to take

Believe it or not, the courses you take in high school are very important for planning for college.

When to take ACT or SAT tests

One of the most asked questions in the counseling office from parents is when their student should take the ACT or SAT.  Are you unsure what test optional even means? I have all the resources and information about testing you need!

How to find accurate and helpful information

The daunting process of finding the right college fit for our kids leaves us questioning the advice we hear from a neighbor or friend. The ever changing college admissions process is not one to figure out on our own.

What strategies set up your teen for success

College admissions is my jam and working with families to uncover the steps lights me up. I break it down in easy steps toward hitting that “submit” button.

You want a smooth and stress free college journey for your child so ...

Yes, you!

You've thought about figuring it out on your own

BUT you’re not sure where to find the information, and you’re not confident what you will find will be accurate and helpful, and you’re afraid you’re just filling countless hours and may be a waste of your time.

And, you!

You've considered reaching out to friends

BUT you can see that your friend’s teens are different than your own and their goals and options may not alighn with yours. Plus, when they walked the road of college admissions that was years ago and things have changed.

I can help you, too.

You've even thought about hiring a private coach

BUT they will cost you thousands and you’d rather invest and save those dollars for the actual cost of college tuition. Besides, how do I know if they would be the right fit for my teen?

Helping our kids find the right college is an overwhelming task. You don't have to do it alone.

About me

I’m a high school counselor, wife, mom of four, and coffee lover. In my job as an online educator, I am highly passionate about helping teens and their parents walk through the college admissions process. I have made it my mission to become an expert for my students.

I have experience working with families in the high school years and I am eager to bring together parents and teens in the overwhelming process of college admissions. My goal is to break down the process into easy steps and to make it enjoyable and exciting.

I provide clear and concise information for students and families. I consider the whole child; from mental health to special circumstances, academic goals, to relationships, it’s my goal to have compassion and empathy that your road is different than any other’s. I hope you know that you don’t have to walk the road to college on your own.

Testimonials From My Students and Parents

Renee was very encouraging of what we’d already done and that it was on the right track. She clearly has very thorough knowledge of this extensive field, and I really enjoyed chatting with her about my family and our goals.  Both my teens felt very comfortable asking questions of her and taking her advice!

Mrs. Hartman helped me tremendously through college applications, acceptance, and even college prep after acceptance and enrollment. Thanks to her help during the application process, I am attending the University of Michigan this coming fall! After enrolling at Michigan she helped me with score sends, placement exams, roommates and housing, and even walked me through my worries and excitement about my future in college. I’m so thankful for her and all the help she provided me. She is an expert when it comes to all things college prep!

My daughter is very interested in attending the “right” college/university after high school. I want my daughter to graduate from high school in a good position to apply for her college of choice. I could not answer the questions she was asking me about college acceptance, and I needed some help. Renée stepped in. She interviewed us, asked several questions that I hadn’t thought about, gave us guidance towards acquiring higher education, a basic timeline, and pointers on getting scholarships and tuition assistance. My daughter was ready to jump in with renewed vigor and hopeful about getting her first acceptance letter in a few years. Thanks, Renée. The college road isn’t as daunting now.
